Discussing AI findings in the patient record

As artificial intelligence continues to enter and complement clinical practice, many providers and programs are looking to define their own best practices and policies on transparency, disclosure, and retention.

For example, how might providers document or disclose the results of breast imaging AI (such as Transpara) within the medical record? This type of output (for example, the Transpara Report) is not generative AI but still warrants a clear operational and patient-facing workflow.

We recently spoke with Dr. Rachel Brem, former Director of the Breast Imaging and Interventional Center at The George Washington University, about how she thought through this question.
