Radboudumc celebrates SPM's Nico Karssemeijer

Across three decades as a teacher and mentor at Radboudumc, Prof. Nico Karssemeijer has shaped generations of students and professionals while simultaneously reshaping the breast imaging AI ecosystem.

As he ends his professorship at the university, prominent leaders in the field will convene for a symposium in his honor to explore the state-of-art of AI for breast imaging, assess new applications for the technology,  and understand what  implementation looks like across screening programmes and prospective studies.

As he bids farewell to teaching (but not to the industry), we asked Radboudumc PhD candidate Jessie Gommers, Radboudumc Professor of Breast Radiology Dr. Ritse Mann, and long-time collaborator (and SPM's second co-founder) Sir Michael Brady reflect on Nico's impact and his legacy.
